Last night, I was surprised to see Eric backing up with my trailer! It wasn’t what I was envisioning for how I would start this project. Still, it is here and this morning I was able to see the task ahead of me.
I’ve finished watching the series done by Elysia English. There aren’t very many videos that really show the whole process, so their reno series was fun to watch. Now I’m watching videos about gutting them.

The trailer came with a file folder full of receipts and information. Even though it looks really small, it is indeed 14 feet long. Still, I’m not sure I will be able to put my bed in the front end. The center picture shows the work that needs to be done to the front end of the trailer. That is where the ripping is going to begin!
Looking at it in the light of day, I am feeling a little bit daunted by this project.
Here’s what needs immediate attention:
- The floor – super soft near the door. It probably needs to be lifted throughout the camper. Then I will replace the insulation and reseal it with a subfloor and topping.
- The front window – it has a crack along the bottom. There is also water damage below the window.
- The top right hand corner – also damaged.
The plan is to tear out as much as is needed and renew the flooring and insulation throughout. I just need to make one thrust with a crow bar – and that is proving somewhat of a challenge.
I think I’ll do some research on making cupboard doors. I’m not sold on the ones I have.
Any thoughts, encouragements or suggestions are most welcome!

I hope you continue to post as you do the renovations. We have a bigfoot camper that is starting to need some repairs inside as we have had it for 14 years.
We are getting a trash bin next weekend. There are lots of videos that are helpful.
Wow, that camper does need some love! Just take your time with the renovations, I know it seems to be an awful lot at first sight but if you break it into smaller steps, it’ll be less daunting. We (hubs and me) are planning to buy a van, something along the lines of a Fiat Ducato, and turn it into a camper, and have estimated it’s going to take about a year, or maybe year and a half, until it’s done. Still, it’s so much fun building something more or less from scratch, so good luck with your renovations.
OMG, what a fantastic project! ❤️
